ヘルパーT(TH)細胞は免疫監視における機能の恒常性を制御する中心的役割を持つT細胞であり、これら細胞の恒常性の破綻は様々な免疫性疾患を引き起こす。実際、免疫恒常性が外界からの潜在的危機にさらされたとき、成熟型のT細胞であるナイーブT細胞は抗原提示細胞によって提示されたウイルスなどの外来抗原によって活性化する事で、さまざまな異なる機能を備えたTH細胞へと分化する。これらTH細胞は産生するサイトカインパターンの違いからTH1, TH2, TH17, TFHに分類する事ができる。本チームの目的は，ウイルスなどの感染症や炎症病態におけるこれらTH細胞の役割を明らかにしていくとともに、これらT細胞が作られる分子メカニズムを知ることにある。
