糖鎖構造生物学研究チーム

タンパク質に結合している糖鎖の機能を解明するためには、糖鎖を立体構造の観点から捉えることが重要になります。当研究チームは、糖タンパク質や糖鎖関連タンパク質の立体構造を明らかにして、糖鎖のもつ機能に迫ります。有機合成的手法や細胞工学的手法を用いて糖鎖・糖タンパク質を調製し、NMRやX線結晶解析等の物理化学的手法により立体構造解析を行っていきます。さらに、バイオインフォマティクスの技術を用いて糖鎖の立体構造のデータベース構築を行い、その立体構造情報から糖鎖のもつシグナルの解読を目指します。特に、タンパク質・糖鎖の変異による疾患の発症メカニズムを立体構造の観点から明らかにして、診断薬・治療薬のデザインと開発を進めていきます。
