平野染色体ダイナミクス研究室

染色体は、遺伝情報の担体としてあらゆる生命現象の根本に位置します。では、このDNAとタンパク質の巨大な複合体は、どのように構築され、複製され、次世代の細胞に伝達されていくのでしょうか？この問題は、がん細胞の増殖および生殖細胞の形成とも密接な関連をもつことから、医学的見地からみてもきわめて重要な課題ということができます。当研究室では、染色体の高次構造変換を制御する分子群、特にコンデンシンとコヒーシンとよばれるタンパク質複合体の解析を中心に、染色体ダイナミクスの総合的理解を目指しています。精製タンパク質を用いた生化学・構造学的解析、カエル卵抽出液を用いた再構成系、培養細胞を用いた生体内での染色体動態の解析等、多彩なアプローチを駆使しています。さらに、染色体ダイナミクスの進化的基盤、染色体異常を伴うヒトの遺伝疾患についても、これまでとは違った視点からの研究を推進しています。これらの成果とゲノム生物学から発せられる膨大な情報を組み合わせることにより、新しい時代の染色体生物学を開拓し発展させていきたいと考えます。
