Research Areas
Water is the most abundant molecule in a living body and is called as the molecule of life. In order to elucidate hydration structure and dynamics at the most detailed level, chemists, biologists, and physicists from Wako and Harima Institutes of RIKEN launched a new joint project. X-ray crystallography, X-ray emission spectroscopy, laser spectroscopy, and computer simulation are employed. Collaborative works with RIKEN's big scientific projects of petaflops supercomputing and X-FEL would be exciting future possibilities for us.

Research Subject
(1) Protein structure and hydration
(2) Hydrogen bonding
(3) Electronic structure of solvated molecules
(4) Molecular dynamics simulation
