Research Areas

We are focusing on a novel family of E3 ubiquitin ligases (E3s) that function as an immunosuppressor. These molecules have been classified into two groups: viral E3s and mammalian E3s. Interestingly, these E3s target a different set of antigen presentation-related molecules such as MHC class I, B7, ICAM-1. However, the molecular mechanisms for specific targeting and a physiological function of mammalian E3s are still unknown. We are exploring a new paradigm in immunoregulation and a novel immunotherapy by investigating a molecular and physiological function of a novel class of E3 ubiquitin ligases.

Research Subject

  1. Molecular mechanism on specific recognition by a novel E3 family
  2. Physiological function of a novel E3 family
  3. Establishment of a novel immunosuppressive therapy using immunosuppressive E3s
