Research Areas

Cellulose Production Research team is to develop "Super trees" with qualitatively and quantitatively improved productivity of woody biomass including cellulose that are major start materials of biomass engineering. For this purpose we will produce transgenic poplar and Eucalyptus trees with good properties, which will be evaluated in green houses and in fields by domestic and international collaborations. In addition, we will further analyze the regulatory system for woody biomass production at molecular levels.
