Cosmic X-ray Research Team
The present research team utilizes comsic X-rays and gamma-rays, to probe into extreme astrophyscial objects including black holes and neutron stars, long-range electromagnetic interactions in space, and energy non-equipartition processes therein. The cosmic X-ray satellite Suzaku, launched in July 2005, is being used for versatile objectives. In July 2009, the MAXI (Monitor of All-sky X-ray Image) experiment, developed since 1997, has been launched by Space Shuttle, and installed on the Japan Experimental Module which constitute the International Space Station. By scanning the entire sky utilzing the Statioion's revolution, MAXI continuousuly monitor a large number of celestial X-ray sources with a high sensitivity. Already more than 20 reports were internationally distributred based on new MAXI results, including emergence of X-ray nova, brightening of known objects, and re-appearance of previously known sources. Intensity histories of about 100 objects are open to public at http://maxi.riken.jp/top/index.php.
