Research Areas

Our team aims to understand fundamental microscopic properties of complex electronic materials and to develop the architecture of the concerted and innovative energy technology by using new phenomena based on a variety of electronic phases of complex electronic system. We observe local electronic states and phase transition at surfaces and interfaces of complex electronic materials with local probe microscopy and spectroscopy. In addition, we also propose the basic principles for the practical application of the materials and high efficiency energy conversion using external stimuli sensitive materials near the phase transition.

Research Subject

  1. Investigation of energy conversion and transport at nano-scale surface and interfaces
  2. Development of novel photon control device using metamaterials
  3. Development of zero-volume effect device using negative thermal expansion materials
