Research Areas

Our team focuses on advanced elements chemistry based on the development and synthesis of novel organic ligands and functional metal complexes. Our main research aims include 1) development of innovative synthetic processes, 2) applications of organic-metallic hybrid chemistry to materials science, and 3) evaluation of the biological activities of organic-metallic hybrid complexes (bioorganometallics). We are conducting fundamental and applied research in these areas not only by means of experimental approaches based on synthetic organic chemistry and spectroscopy, but also from a theoretical viewpoint based on computational chemistry.

Research Subject

  1. Development of advanced molecular transformation methods supporting materials science and life sciences (reaction chemistry/synthetic chemistry)
  2. Periodic table-traversing chemistry that transcends the frameworks of organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and metallic chemistry (elements chemistry)
  3. Design and production of materials, using a foundation of synthetic chemistry, spectroscopy, and computational chemistry (materials science/life sciences)
