Research Areas

Chemical reactions are primarily driven by ultrafast changes of an electronic state of a molecule or molecular complexes. This research team make use of state-of-the-art light sources available at RIKEN (ultrafast lasers, free electron lasers, and synchrotron radiation) to perform advanced photoelectron spectroscopy and imaging to elucidate chemical reaction mechanisms at the level of ultrafast electron dynamics.

Research Subject

  1. Ultrafast photoelectron spectroscopy
  2. Structure and dynamics of solvated electrons and molecules
  3. Non-adiabatic reaction dynamics
  4. Ultrafast spectroscopy using SPring-8 and XFEL
  5. Crossed molecular beam scattering
