Strong-Correlation Materials Research Team
Strong correlation of electrons in oxides often leads to an insulating state accompanied by charge ordering/localization, or an anomalous metallic state on the verge of transition to an insulator. In these systems, charge/spin/orbital degrees of freedom of electrons and lattice degree of freedom strongly couple with each other, producing various intriguing phenomena. Focusing on these strongly correlated electron systems, we aim to explore novel materials that exhibit magnetoelectric, thermoelectric, magenetocaloric response. In addition, we try to make these responses gigantic, and pursue the possibility of applying these materials to spintronics devices, thermoelectric power generator, and magnetic refrigeration technology.
