Research Areas

Being distinct from conventional semiconductors where single electron picture can explain their properties and device functionalities, those in correlated oxides are governed by electron-electron interaction. When dissimilar electronic states are adjoined at atomically controlled interfaces, their keen competition is expected to give gigantic responses to external stimuli. We aim at designing and controlling the interfacial properties to realize surpassing device performances in switches, sensors and photovoltaics to those of semiconductors.

Research Subject

  1. Oxide interface engineering
  2. Mott transition at interfaces
  3. Interfacial devices
