Job Description Center for Emergent Matter Science (Center Director : Dr. Yoshinori Tokura) is a new strategic research center launched in April 1st, 2013. The center aims at constructing a novel condensed matter science and contributing fundamentally toward realization of an environmentally benign, sustainable society which is recognized as the world-wide problem.
Postdoctoral researchers indicate those who have the research experience less than 5 years after getting the Ph.D degree. It may happen that there is no adoption when there are no appropriate candidates.

Quantum Condensed Phases Research Team (Team Leader: Dr. Kimitoshi Kono) studies novel quantum effects in the system of quantum fluids and solids, in particular, at topological defects of order parameters, surfaces, and interfaces of superfluid helium.
To carry out experimental study using electrons on the surface of liquid helium, one postdoctoral researcher with skills in microfabrication techniques and low temperature transport measurements at dilution temperatures is solicited.

Remuneration One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable, based on the evaluation, up until March 31, 2018 at the latest. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will be applied. Mandatory membership in the RIKEN Mutual Benefit Society (RIKEN Kyosaikai). Days off include Saturday, Sunday, public holidays, New Year's holidays (Dec. 29 - Jan. 3), and RIKEN Foundation day. These and other provisions are in accordance with RIKEN regulations.

Also, eligible for an exemption from repayment for category 1 scholarship loans provided by the Japan Student Services Organization before fiscal year 2003, and eligible applying for the MEXT Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Kakenhi).

(2) List of publications and invited talks (five major papers should be specified.)
(3) Reprints (pdf files) of the above major papers
(4) Summary of major achievements to date and research proposal in future (five or less pages A4 sized paper in total)
(5) Recommendation letter from present supervisor. (If it is difficult to obtain the letter from the present supervisor, one from a person who knows well the research activity of the applicant is possible.) In addition, the name, affiliation, position, contact information (Tel. number and E-mail address) of the recommending person and two references should be indicated.
(6) The contact address where the result should be sent (postal address, fax number, e-mail address).
