Seeking for a Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Department Plant Immunity Research Group , Center for Sustainable Resource Science
Group Director: Dr. Ken Shirasu
Profile of the Laboratory The main goal of our group is to understand the molecular mechanisms of immunity in plants. We plan to systematically identify and characterize genes, proteins, and small molecules that are important for defense against pathogens by using genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics approaches. We aim to elucidate the signaling networks involved in plant immunity by analyzing the expression patterns of defense-related genes and their post-transcriptional regulation, such as protein modification and the formation of complexes. Infection of plants is economically damaging to agricultural industries worldwide, and understanding the molecular basis of the natural disease resistance mechanisms that plants utilize would provide new strategies to combat the most damaging pathogens.
Available Position One Researcher or Postdoctoral Researcher position is available.
Job description To understand chemical networks between plants and microbes, by focusing on virulence-related genes identified in genome/transcriptome data during plant-microbe interactions and by using chemical biology methods. Experience in isolation of functional small compounds or molecular biology experiments is required. In depth knowledge in plant-microbe interactions is preferred but not required.
Qualification requirements Experience in the field of study related to the subject described above is required. In principle, candidates with less than five years of postdoctoral experience will be considered for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher.
(PhD candidates who will soon graduate may also apply.)
