Announcement for the IMPC International Symposium in Tokyo
- The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium: its activity and value for biomedical sciences -
RIKEN is going to hold the "IMPC International Symposium in Tokyo" in WTC Conference Center, Minato City, Tokyo from 10 am on September 28, Friday.
The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium, IMPC, is an international collaborative research project to discover the relations between human and mammalian genome and phenotypes - physiological or behavioral characters such as blood elements or auditory and visual perception - using mice as a model.
World leading mouse resource organizations are taking charge of certain number of knockout mouse strains for each to produce live mice, phenotype them in line with the protocols agreed in IMPC, and aggregate and publish the data on the standardized forms.
RIKEN BioResource Center (RIKEN BRC) has joined IMPC since its launch in 2011 and taken a leading role in the standardizing protocols as a representative mouse resource center in Asia.
In this symposium, core members of IMPC and key people from the life science research and drug development in Japan are invited to give a speech and have a discussion on how to utilize IMPC phenotyping data and resources for basic life sciences and prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
