FEL physics team is in charge of development of devices called undulators, which induce interaction between radiation and electron beam to realize x-ray lasing. In addition, theoretical research and new XFEL scheme are explored to futher upgrade the laser performance of SACLA.

Research Subjects

  • Exploration of new schemes for an ultimate XFEL
  • Development and upgrade of XFEL simulation code
  • R&D toward an ultra narrow gap operation of SACLA in-vacuum undulators
  • Development of next-generation insertion devices
  • Construction of SACLA new beamlines and implementing the seeding option
