Mathematical aspects of physics are indispensable for understanding universal characteristics of various kinds of theoretical physics, and even for new discovery in physics. We study superstring theory and its mathematical aspects, including their applications and relations to particle physics, hadron physics, nuclear physics, condensed matter physics, and cosmology. Superstring theory is a mathematical framework in which gravity and quantum mechanics are described in a unified fashion. Our research aims at intrinsic understanding of the universe and elementary particles, through which discovery of new descriptions of various theoretical physics should be possible.
