RIKEN Innovation Center
Radiant Energy and Electric Generation Laboratory
Team Leader: Kenji Higashi
Radiant energy is the thermal (or heat) energy originated from any light, especially such as sunlight. The research and development of the system, which converts light to thermal energy and then from the thermal energy to electricity, are our main theme. In this perspective, we are aiming to develop a high cost performance system with a technology of collecting light energy and storing it as thermal energy, which can supply electricity and hot water whenever necessary.
Research Subjects
- Research and development of a Fresnel lens for solar light concentration
- Research and development of a Fresnel based radiant energy collector system
- Research and development of a radiant energy and electricity generation unit
