A compact accelerator based neutron source is being developed at out research team, which is aiming for the collaboration with industries. Neutron beam is known to be quite useful in non-destructive testing or material strucure analysis since neutrons have higher interactions with light elements and various analysis method can be achieved. However, the utilization of neutron beam was mainly done in large scale facilities especially in Japan. To broaden the user range, it is very important to develop compact accelerator based neutron source together with technologies of utilization of relatively weak beam. Our compact neutron source uses low energy nuclear reaction, which is advantageous in reducing the radiation shield size, but long-life target for this reaction is not succesfully developed so far. Therefore, research and development of our team include development of long-life neutron generating target, high efficiency neutron beam line with optics, and RIKEN's original detectors for various neutron energies. Through these research and development, we are aiming to verify the possibility of compact accelerator based neutron source with industries.
