RIKEN Quantitative Biology Center
Laboratory for Single Cell Gene Dynamics
Unit Leader: Yuichi Taniguchi (Ph.D.)
We are a group of scientists pursuing systems-level biology of single cells. We aim to develop new innovative technologies for comprehensive and exhaustive quantification of single cells that are consists of vast kinds of machinery such as DNA, gene expression products and chemicals. In parallel, utilizing recent advanced technologies, we challenge to analyze dynamic and systematic properties of single cells in a process of a variety of biological phenomena such as cell differentiation. In the end, we aim to find a general concept to understand complex cellular systems from a molecular basis.
Research Subjects
- Developments of single-molecule imaging methods of gene expression in single cells
- Establishments of methods for gene expression analysis in higher organisms
- Developments of high-throughput methods for genome-wide analyses of single cells
- Analyses of single-cell gene expression in a variety of biological processes
- Modeling of complex gene expression networks in single cells
