The RIKEN Biomass Engineering Program (BMEP) is a pioneer program promoting collaborations in the field of biotechnology between RIKEN researchers, universities and industry. The aim of the program is to foster the development of new, green technology and contribute to a more sustainable society. Researchers at BMEP work on the development of innovative bioprocesses enabling the creation of new biomaterials, biotechnology-based chemicals and bioplastics.
