RIKEN Advanced Institute for Computational Science
Facility Operations and Development Team
Team Head: Yoshihiro Sekiguchi
We perform maintenance and management of electrical and cooling facilities to ensure stable operation of the K computer. We are also working on R&D for maintaining an optimal working environment by combining steam-driven absorption refrigeration and inverter turbo refrigeration equipment, together with the operation of two 5000kW-class cogeneration systems. Other systems our team is developing include hot-spot sensing equipment to keep temperatures uniform in the space occupied by the supercomputer and temperature measurement instrumentation with the capacity of giving feedback to air conditioning and cooling equipment on a real-time basis.
Research Subjects
- Development of the optimization driving technique of a power supply and cooling facilities
- Development of the hotspot analysis technology
- Development of the real-time operation technique
