Outreach

Research Partnerships

RIKEN currently collaborates with more than 330 partner organizations around the world through a variety of cooperation and joint research agreements. Joint research centers and facilities at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in the United Kingdom and at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and MIT in the United States have their origin in collaborative research agreements signed in the 1990s. In more recent years, comprehensive cooperation agreements and memoranda have led to the establishment of joint research centers and laboratories in Germany (Max Planck Society), South Korea (Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology), Malaysia (Univeristy Sains Malaysia) and China (Xian Jiaotong University).

Looking ahead, RIKEN plans to establish new agreements and partnerships and new joint facilities with overseas organizations in order to enhance and expand its collaborative research.
