Research Field

Secondary metabolites produced by microorganisms such as actinomycetes and filamentous fungi have diversity in chemical structures and biological activities. Our laboratory is focusing on the isolation of new compounds that regulate mammalian cell function from microbial metabolites. Our laboratory is also devoted to the utilization of biosynthetic gene clusters which is involved in the production of secondary metabolites.

Job description

The production of secondary metabolites utilizing gene source from Streptomyces and the creation of novel metabolites by an elucidation of biosynthetic mechanisms.

Qualification

The candidate should possess a doctoral degree in the related field.

Salary and benefits

One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable, based on the evaluation, until the termination of the project (projected to be on March 31, 2018).

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will be applied. Mandatory membership in the RIKEN Mutual Benefit Society (RIKEN Kyosaikai). Days off include public holidays, New Year's holidays (Dec. 29 - Jan 3), and RIKEN Foundation Day.
These and other provisions are in accordance with RIKEN regulations.

Also, eligible for an exemption from repayment for category 1 scholarship loans provided by the Japan Student Services Organization before fiscal year 2003, and eligible applying for the MEXT Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (Kakenhi).
