Seeking Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Field
AICS is the organization which has two major divisions, one for research and development of computational science and the other for operation of the K supercomputer. AICS cooperates with many research organizations of a wide-range of research fields, forms an international center for research and development, and plays the leading role of computational science in Japan. In AICS, computer science and computational science closely cooperate, and conducts research and development of common foundational nature for a wide range of fields in computational science, and also conducts research and development for high performance computing technologies.
The objective of the unified simulation research team is to develop simulation methods which can treat complex flow problems coupled with such as structure deformation, heat-transfer, electromagnetic field or chemical reaction by efficiently utilizing massively parallel environment such as K-computer. For that purpose, we have to research new algorithm for solving multiple partial differential equations with various time and length scales simultaneously. We also have to develop a tool or algorithm for the improvement of massively parallel efficiency to support programming and usage environment of the supercomputer.
Job title and Job description
[Available positions]
Research Scientist or Postdoctoral Researcher
[Description]
We are seeking for a few person who can engage in one or more of following three topics:
- Research and development of flow simulation solver on passively parallel environment.
- Research and development of algorithm for complex phenomena of multiple governing equations for flow, structure, heat, electromagnetic field, or chemical reaction.
- Research and development of algorithm or tool for efficiently utilizing massively parallel environment (such as dynamic load balancing method).
Qualifications
The position requires a Ph.D. (including those who will take a degree before arriving at the post. If it has been 5 years or less since your acquisition of Ph.D.degree, you will be employed as a Postdoctoral Fellow), equivalent/higher abilities to accomplish the offered topics: those who have considerable experience in actual simulation and analysis of engineering complex phenomena are highly evaluated. The candidate also should have good experience of not only computer programming using C, C++, or Fortran but also parallel tuning using MPI or OpenMP. It is preferable to have experience of the offered topics. Communication in English (or Japanese) is required.
